JaxCo Furniture Company Celebrates Five Years with Fundraiser for Isaiah 117 House

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., February 19, 2024 - JaxCo Furniture Company, 9978 Atlantic Blvd., celebrated their fifth year in business with a party at the store on January 19 with over 100 guests in attendance. The party also served as a fundraiser to provide furnishings for Isaiah 117 House, currently under construction in Jacksonville.

"We are incredibly blessed to have five successful years in business providing quality furniture to our local community. We have experienced tremendous growth seeing customers come from as far south as Daytona Beach and from as far north as Savannah," said Mike McCann, JaxCo owner. "Most small businesses don't see year three and we're in year six!"

As part of their commitment to the community, McCann pledged from day 1 to donate a portion of the company's proceeds to local charities, including Isaiah 117 House, which provides a safe place for children transitioning from the custody of the Department of Children & Families until they are placed in foster care.

"We try to change the way foster care begins," said Marsha Wood, representative for Isaiah 117 House. "We want [children] to feel comfortable and know they are not forgotten…it is extremely important on the very worst day of their lives to feel like there are people that care about them and that love them."

According to McCann, JaxCo will provide all the furnishings for the new home. Monetary donations can still be made at JaxCo or see the Isaiah 117 House website for other ways to give.

Duval's Isaiah 117 House will be a safe place where children who have been removed from their homes can wait for foster placement. The first Isaiah 117 house was built in Tennessee by founder Ronda Paulson who saw a need to reach displaced children when they need it the most. The name, Isaiah 117, is taken from the scripture Isaiah 1:17 which says in part, "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless;…"
