Fairy tales: The critical parents were right after all! - "Children need fairy tales" was a mistake
Fairy tales have been criticized time and again, but this criticism was no match for Bettelheim, Jung and Freud. According to fairy tale research, fairy tales promote child development, because children are particularly attracted to the style of fairy tales.Social values and norms of the collective consciousness are passed on to the next generation through fairy tales. The collective consciousness, in turn, is based on the collective unconscious. Fairy tales therefore pass on the collective unconscious in symbolic form and thus provide orientation.
From generation to generation, life instructions are passed on, the content of which people are not aware of; that is, without people knowing about the influence on their consciousness. This makes it all the more important to know the messages of fairy tales.
At the time of Bettelheim, Jung and Freud, the unconscious was still unknown. Now, however, the unconscious has been decoded. The German book "Welche Botschaft vermitteln die grimmschen Märchen?" ("What message do Grimm's fairy tales convey?") by Ayleen Lyschamaya, https://amzn.to/3BNznb8, provides the answer.
Fairy tales as such are valuable for conveying messages of consciousness. The decisive factor, as to whether fairy tales have a positive effect or are harmful, is which specific messages of consciousness they pass on. Can fairy tales promote development and healing when they cruelly punish an "evil" part of one´s own personality?
Fairy tales do not intuitively pass on ancient wisdom, but harmful messages of consciousness. In particular, many fairy tales convey how the ego suppresses the soul as a guide to life. Thus, anyone who thinks that fairy tales would not have harmed previous generations, needs only look at the soulless ego result that the world finds itself in.
Nevertheless, nobody needs to reproach themselves for having succumbed to the previous fairy tale fallacy, because the unconscious was previously unknown.
