DC-Based Pan-African Singer Naomi Achu Announces Launch Of Sophomore Album: Chris Attoh To Host & A Special Appearance By Wes Madiko Accompanies A Hot Line-Up Of AfroCentric Performances

WASHINGTON - April 7, 2016 -- Stylized by Naomi Achu, the #QueenOfBamenda, "Long Live The Queen!" is the Pan-African singer's most recent AfroCentric album set to release early this Summer. The unveiling will be held at The Friendship Center (Laurel, Maryland) --- hosted by Ghanian actor, Chris Attoh. Additional special guests include Grammy Award winner and Africa's Ambassador for Michael Jackson's Family Foundation: Wes Madiko. a special appearance by Grammy Award winner and King of World Music: WES MADIKO. Additional performances by the renowned Koby Maxwell, Indo Baba, Pardon C, Vreezy Ville, Young Sweizy, Bespontube & Nigeria's own Waconzy will also be included in the night's entertainment lineup. Preceding the album's release was the single, "Busy Body". Her second single, "Without You," was revealed during the Inaugural Next Generation Awards (N.E.G.A) and features Nigerian-born singer Indo Baba. The new album will include the release of "Walk Away," which is a single with a world sound that incorporates Naomi Achu's native Cameroonian tongue: Baforchu. The artist explained this song is a gift to her homeland and her early fans as it is "the core of Naomi Achu". In "Walk Away," she pays homage to Cameroon. Being the executive producer of her new album, Naomi Achu collaborated with Nigerian producer Walta Blackson and Afro-American producer Frenchy-Beatz, who hails from Gabon (West Africa). The album will reveal guest appearances from other popular artists.

To launch promotion for this new album, Naomi Achu headlined "The Prelude: A Night With Naomi Achu" - on December 2015 at Station One: an upscale international hotspot in the DC metro area. The show was sponsored by the DMV's hottest event promoter Samuel Mobit: best-known as DJ Chick. Fans gained intimate access to this International AfroPop star as she performed one of her new singles: "Busy Body". The AfroPop star premiered the official music video to the single on VEVO (December 30, 2015). The event was covered by celeb host CeCe Maintain of The Maintain Show: a well-known platform that premieres celebrity news. The singer also shared the stage in concert with Memphis Bleek at LIV Nightclub DC last month: hosting the event was WPGC 95.5 FM radio's DJ Tony Redz. She is also planning to perform live in March for the 59th Ghana Independence Celebration in Maryland.

The VEVO release of "Busy Body" received rave reviews from magazines and bloggers alike. TipTop Stars Magazine's US-based editor, Ernest Kanjo, described the song as "… lyrically creative and meaningfully pregnant! … [Naomi Achu] sees women as epitomes of virtue by using Busy Body's protagonist, an exceptionally motherly/wifely woman whose family/social task locomotive steams forever." Naomi Achu is a Cameroonian singer, rapper, and songwriter. She is best known for "Alhadji," which was played in the eighth season of Big Brother Africa. Naomi is credited with being among the forerunners of Cameroonian pop music; particularly in the diaspora. She goes by the moniker "Queen of Bamenda". Naomi released her debut solo album (2nd record) in July 2011: Positive Energy. "Alhadji" became Naomi's signature hit. It played on an episode of Big Brother Africa's 8th season (Big Brother Africa 8: The Chase). Additionally, "Alhadji" scored Naomi a Best Blues/Pop award nomination by the World Music & Independent Film Festival. Its video held the number one spot on Afrotainment's Top 10 program for several weeks. Naomi is the winner of the Best Female Artist award at the inaugural Cameroon Entertainment Awards (July 2012) and has also won the African Female Musician of the Year award at the inaugural DMV African Entertainment Awards (November 2014).In preparation for her sophomore album in 2016, Naomi has released three singles: "Wa Fun Mi Shuga" (or "Suga") on October 7, 2012; "It's My Life" on December 21, 2013; and "Busy Body" on December 19, 2015.
