Wiltshire-based family-run safety footwear manufacturer V12 Footwear have launched a waterproof safety boot range specifically to fit a woman's foot shape.
Available in honey, brown and black, the Lynx range was produced using V12's specially designed female last shape, which was made by using thousands of global foot scans of the female foot. This means that the Lynx range supports and contours the anatomy of a woman's foot, guaranteeing exceptional comfort.

One size doesn't fit all
The female foot isn't just generally smaller - it's narrower, it features a higher Achilles tendon and has typically higher arches. So, if a woman has to make-do wearing work boots in a smaller man's size - a situation still all-too common in safety-related industries - it can result in blistering, corns, calluses, increased risk of slipping and ankle twisting, as well as other long-term musculoskeletal problems. And for V12 Footwear, this is not an acceptable scenario.

Designed for comfort
17% of work boot wearers are women, and they, just like their male colleagues take an average 12,000 steps per day. And the True Women's Fit Lynx range was designed by V12 to ensure these wearers working outside in demanding, wet and slippery conditions can have comfort and protection on every one of those steps. Comfort through Innovation
Although designing a specific female fitting women's safety style took a huge amount of innovation, a look under the leather of the Lynx reveals that pioneering design and top-level technology is built-in from toe to heel.

The V-Dri waterproof lining
V-Dri is V12 Footwear's highly advanced waterproof membrane, designed with a series of microscopic holes, each one smaller than a water molecule. These tiny holes prevent water from getting inside the boot, but are large enough to allow perspiration to escape, meaning feet stay cool, dry and healthy as they're protected from both water and perspiration.
Lynx's V-Dri lining also features an ultra-wicking top fabric, which allows moisture vapour out of the boot more quickly when the foot becomes warmer. So, if temperatures are high, this intelligent and dynamic membrane means the resulting heat and sweat is removed faster.

IGS sole unit
Inspired by tyre technology, the highly innovative IGS (Intelligent Grip System) sole unit has been designed to offer maximum slip-resistance on slippery surfaces. This outstanding non-slip sole unit includes a specialised water-dispersing tread for gripping slippery surfaces, along with ladder grips to ensure stability and safety when working at height. V12 even went the extra distance and developed the IGS with a heel strike at 7º, which is the angle at which most slips occur, to drastically reduce the chances of slipping or falling. When they said the Lynx was innovative, V12 weren't lying.

Light on weight, heavy on safety

A great example of this is the Lynx's composite anti-penetration midsole, which not only stops sharp objects entering underfoot, but also enhances comfort due to its fatigue-reducing and flexible lightweight construction.
