Prestwick’s Historic Red Lion under New Management

The Red Lion Pub has stood proudly at Prestwick Cross for hundreds of years. Famed as the Birthplace of golf’s Open Championship, this historic building had sadly fallen into a state of disrepair in the last few decades; but now, with new owners and over £150,000 worth of investment, a very different Red Lion will be opening at the end of March.

With the appointment of a new Head Chef, complete refurbishment of the kitchens, and a whole new menu - the Red Lion is set to become the eating destination it once was. The revamp doesn’t stop here, as the entire restaurant seating area and bar are getting a facelift too.

Function suites are being created, and the restaurant is being redesigned to be more family friendly. While the bar is seeing the addition of a specialist Whisky menu – where there will be over 100 Scottish Malts to choose from! And, if that wasn’t enough, even the carpark will be getting a makeover to include a beer garden and smoking area, just in time for summer!

As well as seeing an historic building get the attention that it deserves, the investment in the Red Lion has led to new job opportunities for the local area, with kitchen, waiting and bar staff all being recruited already in time for the grand opening at the end of March.
