Dr. Udo Haberland: Vice President Program Management Industrial Solutions at Bühler Motor

Dr. Udo Haberland new Vice President Industrial & Healthcare at Bühler Motor GmbH – Mark Furtwängler becomes head of NAFTA activities at Buehler Motor Inc., USA

Nuremberg, 23. February 2016 – Dr.-Ing. Udo Haberland has assumed responsibility for the Industrial & Healthcare Solutions division at Bühler Motor GmbH as of January 1. He succeeds Mark Furtwängler, who will be taking over responsibility for the US subsidiary Buehler Motor Inc. as President and General Manager beginning March 1, 2016.

Bühler Motor is one of the leading suppliers of innovative mechatronic drive solutions, with over 1,700 employees at 10 locations on 3 continents, with the focus on the automotive, industrial, medical technology and seat actuation markets.

Dr. Haberland will strengthen the Bühler Motor management team. The aim is to continue with the development and expansion of business activities across all locations in the areas of General Industrial Solutions, Medical Technology and Seat Actuation. Thanks to Dr. Haberland's interdisciplinary experience in the product development of high-tech solutions involving a high proportion of software and electronics, Bühler Motor’s customers and employees can look forward to working with an extremely capable member of the team.

"We are delighted to have found, in Dr. Udo Haberland, an experienced executive who pragmatically combines innovative product and process developments with outstanding customer orientation. We feel that his dedication will produce solutions that are finely tuned to the needs of our various target markets," comments Peter Muhr, President and CEO of Bühler Motor GmbH.

Previously, Dr. Haberland was responsible for customer-specific developments in the automotive sector, as Director Active Safety Application at Autoliv Europe. Before his activities with Autoliv, he had worked in senior positions at Valeo and Hewlett Packard. Dr. Udo Haberland studied for his first degree and doctorate at the Rhine-Westphalia Technical University of Aachen, graduating in both cases with distinction.

Mark Furtwängler, an industrial engineer and one of the 5th generation in the independent family company, will be assuming responsibility, beginning March 2016, for the Bühler Motor Tech Center in Morrisville, NC, USA and the production facility in Chihuahua, Mexico. In this function, he succeeds Ray Welterlin, who will be continuing to provide support as a consultant until his retirement after 34 years with the company.

After his initial post as Vice President Industrial & Healthcare Solutions, this will be the next challenging task for Mark Furtwängler in the family-owned company. Mark Furtwängler is looking forward to the task, especially since his family, and a number of recently awarded customer projects, will be following him to the NAFTA region.
