New cartoon e-book of the cult classic Dharma The Cat launched by Emmy winning writer

Sydney, Australia—November 13th 2007—Emmy award winning documentary maker David Lourie announced last week the launch of the electronic edition of his Simon & Schuster cartoon paperback, called “Dharma The Cat– Philosophy With Fur.”

The new e-book has some never-before-seen cartoons of the international cult favorite – “On the rocky path to nirvana, with a Buddhist cat, a novice monk and a mouse hell-bent on cheese!”

The new e-book is also available for cell phone downloads, and some of the cartoons form a story arc that could lead to a graphic novel.

Dharma The Cat has been published in magazines 28 countries, in 18 languages since its launch on the web in late 1997, together with its multi-faith commentaries. Within six months of launch, it had won the 10 Best On The Web Award in the humor category, plus several pages of other awards.

For those of you who are not yet familiar with Dharma The Cat series, it is the hilarious spiritual journey of an over-earnest young novice monk named Bodhi, who becomes a master of the HOW NOT TO school of enlightenment. As he stumbles into every pitfall along the path, he kindly sheds light on what we all should avoid on our own journeys through life.

Bodhi’s two companions on his misadventures are the ultra-cool Dharma The Cat, and the ultra-sassy Siam The Mouse, whose relentless quest for cheese gives both Bodhi and Dharma some unwanted challenges.

The unique style of writing combines humor with philosophy and spirituality This has made Dharma The Cat a huge hit with teachers, students, cat lovers, Buddhists, psychologists and people from almost all ages around the world.

David Lourie is a multi-award winning editor of TV documentaries - “War Child” for National Geographic TV won an Emmy Award in 1999 – He is also a writer of documentaries and corporate narrations, screenplays, short stories, articles and web site content. His comic strip, “Dharma The Cat – Philosophy With Fur,” since 1997 has run in magazines in 28 countries in 18 languages. Simon & Schuster Australia published a book of these cartoons, and the public web site won the 10 Best On The Web Award in the Humor category.
