PLEASANT LANE FARMS CREAMERY CONTINUES WINNING STREAK AT WORLD DAIRY EXPO
The Creamery at Pleasant Lane Farms winning farmstead cheese.
The Latrobe, PA Farmstead Creamery and Dairy placed 2nd with its Cheddar Cheese Curds, 3rd for its Buffalo Ranch Cheese Curds, and 2nd place with its German style spreadable Quark Cheese.
"The Pleasant Lane team is honored to take home first place for our 1976 Reserve Gouda in this year's World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest," said Jason Frye, Head Cheesmaker at Pleasant Lane Farms. "We are also especially proud to represent Pennsylvania dairy with the wins we received for our Cheddar and Buffalo Ranch Cheese Curds -a hard fought category in Wisconsin!"
Judging was held August 22-24th in Madison, WI ahead of the World Dairy Expo scheduled for early October.
In addition to the wins at World Dairy Expo, the Latrobe based creamery has won awards this year at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, The United States Championship Cheese Contest, The LA International Cheese Competition and at the American Cheese Society Judging and Competition.

Since 1795 the Frye Family has been a steward of agriculture in western Pennsylvania.
Marine Corps veteran Ralph Frye Jr. and his wife Ann established the current home farm in 1976. Today, Pleasant Lane Farms is still family-owned and operated by their sons, Todd, Jason, Chad, and their families along with Craig Deuel and Family.
In late 2020, a new Creamery was added for the production of artisan farmstead cheese, and in early 2021 a new Smart Barn and Robotic Milking facility was added to house and milk the 50+ dairy cows. Milk not processed into cheese is shipped to Turner Dairy in Pittsburgh PA.
