HEAD acoustics worldwide first supplier of audio test system for 3GPP TS 26.131/132 Release 12.4.0/12.6.0 validated by GCF

Release 12 is the latest version of the important 3GPP specifications TS 26.131 and TS 26.132 for LTE mobile phones. HEAD acoustics was the first test solution provider to have implemented Release 12 already in December 2014. The validation by GCF (Global Certification Forum) of the corresponding HEAD acoustics test platform (TP90) has now been achieved for Release 12.4.0/12.6.0.

Experts agree that Release 12 of the 3GPP specifications constitutes an important step forward in the global standardization of wideband-capable telecommunication devices including LTE terminals. Numerous measurements have been modified or added in order to establish a close-to-reality and forward-looking standard:

• LTE speech quality measurements have been introduced with the latest version of Release 12 and have been implemented in the latest revision of the measurement standard TS26131-32 for the HEAD acoustics communication analysis system ACQUA.
• VoLTE specific measurements require MFE IX (or another IP network simulator). The network impairments (TCN file) according to TS 26.131/132 are included in the delivery of the ACQUA measurement standard and can easily be uploaded to MFE IX.
• Configuration methods for different LTE radio testers are now available.
• The use of MFE VIII.1 as reference gateway offers considerable advantages, particular with regard to delay and jitter handling.
• Despite the added features, the price of the measurement standard has not been changed.

The new revision “Rev09_GCF_PTCRB” of the test suite TS26131-32 also comprises two new work items which have been added to the specification since the meeting CAG 44:
• Hands-free measurements (work item 196)
• VoLTE-specific measurements (work item 221)

The test suite is available for HEAD acoustics customers with valid software maintenance agreement (SMA) by download as of now. It requires the new ACQUA version 3.3.200 with ACOPT 21 (3QUEST), the corresponding standard license for TS26131-32, the background noise simulation system HAE-BGN (version 2.1.300 or later) as well as further components, cf. data sheet for TS26131-32 in the HEAD acoustics download center at www.head-acoustics.de
