Recognition premieres at largest independent film festival in London

Recognition, directed by Sharon Ryba-Kahn, premieres next month at the Portobello Film Festival in London. Launched almost two decades ago, the festival is known as the largest film festival in the UK. The documentary, produced by Film Base Berlin, is Ryba-Kahn's directorial debut. The film screens September 5. The festival runs from September 4 – 20.

After 12 years of absence, a filmmaker returns to Israel searching for answers. What starts as a personal journey turns into an intimate portrait of different women in a war stricken land.

About the Portobello Film Festival

Created in 1996 as a reaction to the state of the British film industry, the Portobello Film Festival provides a forum for new filmmakers and gives exposure to movies on different formats. The UK's Independent newspaper calls it The biggest celebration of independent film in Europe.

About Film Base Berlin

Founded in 2006 by Mathias Schwerbrock, Film Base Berlin had an international hit with the film Don 2 starring Shah Rukh Khan, co-produced with the India-based Excel Entertainment. Future productions from producer Mathias Schwerbrock include The Interrogation by director Erez Pery and The Cakemaker directed by Ofir Graizer in 2015 and in 2016, the Dev Benegal-directed Bombay Samurai. Credits for Schwerbrock include line producer on the Fifth Estate, directed by Bill Condon as well as the Luc Besson-produced The Transporter television series. Currently Film Base Berlin is service-producing the European shoot of the television series The Man In The High Castle for Amazon Studios, executive produced by Ridley Scott.
