US-based Venock Inc. has won the "2023 CSI Innovation Award" for its Vascular Closure Device For Large Bore Access. The award was presented to CEO Terry Barnes during the CSI Congress in Frankfurt, Germany.

New York (U.S.A.) / Munich (Germany), July 11, 2023 - CSI is dedicated to promoting development in the field of congenital, structural, and valvular heart disease interventions worldwide. Led by experts in the field, CSI supports and promotes global and multidisciplinary collaboration by providing educational conferences, workshops and online learning opportunities. This year, the CSI Congress was held from June 28 to July 1 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The CSI Innovation Award, sponsored this year by Abiomed and MAXIS Medical, regularly attracts a great deal of attention and was part of the CSI Device Development Workshop (DDW) organized by MAXIS Medical for the last 8 years.

This year, the award went to Venock Inc. for its Vascular Closure Device for Large Bore Access. This device will rapidly close large bore venous access sites following transcatheter procedures, dramatically saving time and cost while improving patient turnover and cathlab efficiency. The Venock device replaces the tedious and lengthy manual compression steps currently used to close large bore venous access sites after a catheterization - a decades old procedure that is extremely burdensome to patients. Medical approval of the device is forthcoming.

Terry Barnes, CEO of Venock Inc., says: "I am honored to accept the Innovation Award from the 2023 CSI Congress, a tremendously important conference in the field of cardiovascular innovation. Large bore vein closure is an unmet and often overlooked need. Venock has responded to this need with a device that provides fast, efficient closure that will benefit cathlabs, hospitals, MedTech developers and most importantly, patients. Thank you to all the award judges, the CSI Congress staff and faculty, Abiomed and MAXIS Medical".
