AmoyDx, Supplier of MoBiTec, Germany, Introduces System for Extraction of Circulating DNA from NSCLC (Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer) Patients

Circulating cell-free DNA is an important emerging biomarker in cancer diagnostics as well as a non-invasive diagnostic solution for a wide range of clinical disorders. The AmoyDx kit is specially designed for effective isolation and purification of DNA from peripheral blood (serum or plasma) and pleural effusion. The purified DNA is suitable for downstream applications such as real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR).

The reliable detection of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has provided many patients with EGFR mutation-positive disease with the opportunity to receive optimal, targeted treatments. Tumor tissue is regarded as the preferred standard sample type for EGFR mutation analysis. However, for many patients this sample type is not available in sufficient amounts.

Therefore, usage of other sample types for EGFR mutation analysis is taken into consideration. The aim is to identify the molecular characteristics of tumors from patients lacking sufficient tumor tissue samples. An alternative sample type is circulating-free tumor DNA (ctDNA), which is obtainable by less invasive methods to detect tumor DNA such as plasma or serum samples.

Amoy Diagnostics' Circulating DNA kit for purification of DNA from pleural effusion, serum, or plasma is an upgraded version of their Serum/Plasma Cell-free DNA kit. The extracted CtDNA can be used for EGFR blood testing and other analyses.

Amoy Diagostics (AmoyDx), China, is a leading provider of cancer-related real time PCR diagnostic kits. The assays are based on a proprietary real-time PCR technology called “ADx-ARMS”. They have outstanding sensitivity (1%) and accuracy (99%).
