Press release from: Model Engineering Solutions GmbH

Berlin (Germany), April 28, 2015: Model Engineering Solutions (MES), specialists in embedded software from Berlin, has become a member of the international competence network SafeTRANS. SafeTRANS is an association of prestigious enterprises and scientific institutions that ensures exchange between research and industry in embedded systems for transportation. The goal of the network is to increase the safety of transportation with the help of cutting-edge technology and optimized processes.

Focus of the network

In addition to professional exchange among members and the development of an integrated technology roadmap, the SafeTRANS network provides a platform for initiating research and development projects in the field of embedded systems with a focus on transportation. SafeTRANS is unique, because it facilitates cooperation across industries, countries, different company sizes, and value chains. Its members include major enterprises such as Bosch, Daimler, and Airbus, scientific institutions such as Fraunhofer and DLR (the national aeronautics and space research center of Germany), as well as small innovative engineering companies such as MES. Two of the major focal points of SafeTRANS are functional safety and certification processes in this environment. The SafeTRANS network regularly organizes scientific conferences such as the SafeTRANS Industrial Day and SafeTech, to promote exchange between the network and the industry.

Role of MES within the network

MES has been able to develop a wide range of competencies in the fields of consulting and software development for quality assurance of embedded software, especially in the automotive industry. MES can now directly contribute this expertise to the network. “We are proud to be included in the SafeTRANS network, and will strive for an active role in transferring knowledge between the automotive sector and other related, yet process-wise very different areas, such as avionics and railways”, commented Dr. Heiko Dörr, COO of MES. MES will be actively involved in various of the network’s research projects and activities.
