The nine leading German Institutes of Technology cooperate in China to provide information on degree programmes.

Berlin, 16.10.2007 –The TU9 universities will be represented in a joint booth at the European Higher Education Fair Beijing (20th -21st October 2007), and in the German pavilion at the China Education Expo 2007 in Shanghai (27th -28th October 2007).

“In China, German university degrees enjoy an excellent reputation. There are many talented young people interested in studying engineering and natural sciences at a TU9 university”, says Professor Horst Hippler, TU9 President and President of Universität Karlsruhe (TH). “It goes without saying that we will be there to give individual advice on degree programmes
and doctorates.“

TU9 is the association of the nine leading Institutes of Technology in Germany. Its members are: RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, TU Darmstadt, TU Dresden, Leibniz Universität Hannover, Universität Karlsruhe (TH), TU München, Universität Stuttgart.

Some 204,000 students, or ten percent of all German students, are registered at TU9 universities.

In Germany 56 percent of all engineers with university degrees come from TU9 universities. 57 percents of all doctorates in engineering are awarded at TU9 universities.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, the TU9 universities attracted more than 20 percent of all third-party funding acquired by 383 German universities and institutions of higher education in 2005.

TU9 universities are international: The share of international students at TU9 universities amount 18 percent. Furthermore the ranking of the Humboldt-Foundation shows the attractiveness of the TU9 members for international scientists.
