ICTTM Welcomes Hon. Charles Mok to Board of Directors, Reinforcing Commitment to Ethical Practices in International Trade

The International Center for Trade Transparency Limited, also known as the International Centre for Trade Transparency and Monitoring (ICTTM), has recently announced the addition of the Hon. Charles Mok to its Board of Directors. The appointment of Mok, a distinguished internet citizen, businessman, and legislator, alongside the Hon. Senator David Wells, Hon. Viscount Lord Waverley, and H.E. Ambassador Sven Jurgenson, reinforces ICTTM's commitment to promoting transparency, ethical practices, and effective regulations in international trade.

Mok's extensive experience in the technology sector and his passion for digital rights will undoubtedly prove invaluable to the organization's ongoing mission to foster transparency and uphold ethical standards in international trade. His current position as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Internet Society and a visiting scholar at Stanford University's Global Digital Policy Incubator demonstrates his extensive knowledge and dedication to safeguarding individual rights in the face of global digital policy implementation and regulation.

Mok's professional career began in the technology sector, where he co-founded HKNet, one of the first local ISPs in 1994, and successfully built the company to become the second-largest in Hong Kong. He has since served in various capacities, including two terms as an elected member of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong, representing the Information Technology sector between 2012 and 2020. During his tenure, Mok was a tireless advocate for privacy, open data, freedom of expression, cybersecurity, and innovation while opposing surveillance and censorship.

After leaving the legislature, Mok founded Tech for Good Asia, a regional initiative aimed at harnessing the positive powers of digital technologies. He has also held leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as the President of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, Chair of the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association, and as a director of the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation.

Mok holds a BS in Computer and Electrical Engineering and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in the US, and serves on the advisory board for the Surrey Law and Technology Hub, School of Law of the University of Surrey in the UK.
