DynaOne HS GeoBend - now with DNV GL Type Approval Certification

Extreme rope reliability and durability with alternating bends under load

Press information
Bremen, 28 November 2014

It’s now official: the world’s leading ship and offshore classification society, DNV GL, has issued Gleistein Ropes with Type Approval Certification for DynaOne® HS GeoBend. The DNV GL approval recognises full compliance with the “Germanischer Lloyd Rules for Loading Gear on Seagoing Ships and Offshore Installations” and formalises the level of safety, performance and durability the Gleistein innovation has possessed since its original launch. It is the first time a textile rope has obtained this type of certification from the society and paves the way to make it the perfect wire rope replacement for cranes and winches.

DynaOne® HS GeoBend from Gleistein Ropes has received DNV GL certification for tender boat launching appliances on board seagoing vessels. The braided 12-plait rope is made of a combination of highest quality Dyneema® SK78 and GeoBend fibres and is finished with a special GeoFlex coating to provide up to 20x longer life when subjected to alternating bends under load. And thanks to the heat-set manufacturing process, DynaOne® HS GeoBend also ensures that strength is further enhanced while constructional stretch is minimised.

“Obtaining official certification of compliance with the strict DNV GL standards for use as a davit rope for manned tender boats represents a milestone for the industry. Now, operators of davit rope systems can also take advantage of the benefits textile ropes provide without needing to forgo the increasingly important official DNV GL certification status,” remarks Gleistein Ropes Market Manager, Dr Heide Giese-Bothe.

DynaOne® HS GeoBend is available with break loads of up to 2,900kN in the standard range and can be customised to suit individual demands. More information on DynaOne® HS GeoBend is available at: http://www.gleistein.com/en-geo-marine-rope/dynaone-hs-geobend
