DIESL and Orient Electricals Experts at Fleming Gulf’s Supply Chain Summit

Fleming Gulf, organized their first supply chain conference - Supply Chain India Submit, in Mumbai, India on the 13th and 14th of November at the plush ITC Grand Central Hotel in the heart of the city.  The company, one of the leading providers of business intelligence through industry-specific conferences, webinars and skills enhancement training courses, has been organizing networking forums in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America since 2005. India is being increasingly acknowledged as one of the fastest growing markets in the world which made it critical to understand the macro trends that will shape future supply chain design. This event aimed at exploring opportunities in the 5th largest supply chain network of the world, through highly focused presentations, case studies and panel discussions. Some of the key topics addressed were, upcoming advancements in technology, the impact of global supply Chain, crisis management, customized warehousing, bull whip effect, E-Commerce logistics, Operational Risks and Reverse Logistics.

The forum saw a gathering of 12 supply chain experts from various manufacturing companies and logistics service providers; and 70 senior delegates – decision makers and heads of logistics, purchase, commercial and finance. The presentations delivered by Mr. Arun Sharma, General Manager Logistics at Oriental Electric (also the Conference Chairman) and Mr. Vikram Mansukhani, Head Business Development and Corporate Services, DIESL were received very well by the audience.

Mr. Sharma spoke on the Bull-Whip Effect and ways in which one can analyze and reduce its impact through countermeasures. Mr. Mansukhani presented on Supplier Relationship Management and discussed its various aspects like supplier selection and sustainability, documentation, accountability and vendor coordination. Mr. Vikram Mansukhani also outlined the major challenges in supply chain management such as multichannel integration, short term focus and technology incompatibilities in logistics. He also spoke on the pain areas like handling labor, unions, landlords, violations, and inventory conditions. The other distinguished speakers came from well-known enterprises such as Cadbury, Johnson & Tata Autocomp Systems Limited etc.
