Water electrolysis is a process that uses electricity to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gases. The hydrogen gas can be used as a clean and renewable energy source.

To produce hydrogen via water electrolysis, equipment called an electrolyzer is required. An electrolyzer typically consists of an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte solution. When an electric current is passed through the electrolyte solution, the water molecules are split into hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-). The hydrogen ions are attracted to the cathode, where they combine to form hydrogen gas (H2). The oxygen ions are attracted to the anode, where they combine to form oxygen gas (O2).
