COMPAMED 2014: Dispensing new medications safely and efficiently

Nuremberg, 15 October 2014 – The increase in illnesses, especially chronic illnesses, has made the use of new biological medications essential. The main focus is making sure that treatment is safe, simple and convenient for patients even when the drugs are applied at home. This form of treatment calls for new pathways to be opened up in the administration of injectable drugs. Examples of this are innovative bolus injectors or patch pumps which are used, for example, for insulin therapy. The challenge in developing such systems is the broad range of drug viscosities and dispensing quantities, which can vary from a few microliters through to 30 ml per injection.
