Press release from: SYSGO

Klein-Winternheim, Germany / Quimper, France, October 16, 2014. SYSGO and Interface Concept (IC) aim the embedded OpenVPX market by combining products. The OpenVPX board from IC is based on the Intel Core i7 processor. PikeOS from SYSGO is an RTOS/hypervisor certified for safety and security. SYSGO with PikeOS and Interface Concept with its Core i7 Intel VPX 3U and 6U platforms collaborate to offer processing solutions for the embedded defense and aerospace market. These solutions benefit from the most recent technologies available in the design of OpenVPX COTS Single Board Computers while offering high performance real-time processing capabilities. “We are pleased to partner with SYSGO to address the OpenVPX market”, declares Thierry Wastiaux, Vice President at Interface Concept. “We already have common customers, who should benefit from the high level of reliability and performance offered by the combination of our OpenVPX board and PikeOS, one of the most innovative products in the areas of safety and security.” About PikeOS Hypervisor: PikeOS is both an RTOS and a hypervisor intended for embedded systems with safety and security requirements. With real-time, virtualization and partitioning it provides all the features needed to build today’s multi-functional and high-integrated devices. The PikeOS architecture creates a foundation for critical systems allowing official approval by the authorities in reference to safety and security standards. PikeOS is the only European software platform for smart devices in the Internet of Things. PikeOS is certifiable to safety standards like DO-178B/C, IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304 or ISO 26262, is MILS compliant, and is currently involved in various security standard Common Criteria EAL 5/6 certification projects. Recently PikeOS achieved the first EN 50128 SIL 4 certification of the market on a multi-core system. About IC-INT-VPX3a: IC-INT-VPX3a is a 3U OpenVPX Single Board Computer, based on the Intel Core i7 processor (Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge / dual or Quad core) coupled with its chipset and providing up to 8 Gbytes DDR3-1333 with ECC. It offers an unmatched level of I/O bandwidth like PCI Express, GigaEthernet, serial UARTs, and GPIOs for both on-board and off-board functions. The on-board Xilinx Kintex-7 Open FPGA is interfaced with the chipset and the VPX P2 connector via two custom connectors for personality modules which allow to directly link Chipset and FPGA interfaces to the VPX P2 connector or to implement specific functions (storage, graphic, audio…), thus making the IC-INT-VPX3a a perfect response for demanding applications requiring performance, flexibility and reliability. The IC-INT-VPX3a uses the UEFI firmware technology. This Boot Loader, supported by our R&D team, implements all the initializations and optimized PBITs, while ensuring the shortest boot time before launching the UEFI shell or loading the Operating System from storage devices (CD, DVD, HDD, USB…) or network.

About SYSGO and Interface Concept: Since 1992, SYSGO provides operating systems and services for embedded systems. In the late 90’s, SYSGO pioneered the use of Linux in the embedded market with the ELinOS distribution. For safety and security critical devices SYSGO offers PikeOS, the world’s first SIL 4 certified hypervisor for multi-core processors, which builds the foundation for smart devices in the Internet of Things. With its product portfolio SYSGO is the leading non-US RTOS-supplier with customers like Samsung, Airbus, Thales, Continental, B. Braun, and many more. Markets include Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Automation, Automotive, Railway, Medical and Network Infrastructure. SYSGO is majority-owned by Thales and has facilities in Germany, France, Czech Republic, UK and North America. It maintains a global distribution network and supports its customers in formal certification according to international safety and security standards. Interface Concept is a leading European designer, developer and manufacturer of electronic embedded solutions targeted at Defence, Aeronautics, Industrial and Transportation areas. As a world-wide expert in embedded critical network applications, Interface Concept has been designing innovative COTS solutions based on state-of-the-art technologies for 25 years. IC is developing a long term strategy sustained by a steady R&D effort representing around 20 % of its revenues. This strategy includes the full control of all the technologies necessary to build its product offering, allowing: 1. secured developments, optimization of the different phases of integration, 2. to provide a strong and reliable technical support to the customer, to ensure the code integrity for all its firmware and software products to develop. IC supports many industry standards such as VME, PCI, cPCI, PMC, XMC, VXS, OpenVPX, MTCA.4 for applications ranging from industrial to the most severe environments. On the OpenVPX standard, IC has heavily invested in the design of a full ecosystem of 3U and 6U boards formats as well as a strong software and firmware offering allowing the system design of efficient and innovative EW, Radar or EO/IR platforms.
