Walk and Experience “The Art of Travel” with watercolor

Hong Kong, China, – For most Hong Kong people, travel involves rigid schedules and little time to absorb the depth of beauty in other countries. Internationally recognized watercolor artist David B. Goldstein believes that traveling is a voyage full of first impressions which allows for lasting memories and great inspirations. Exhibiting those experiences and allowing viewers to taste the wonders of the modern world, for the month of October, David will display 13 visual experiences titled “The Art of Travel” on the 3/F of The Landmark in Central.

Whether it is the cafés in Paris or amongst bamboo scaffolding in Beijing, China “seeing a place for the first time provides great insight into the society and lifestyle,” comments David. “Return visits allow for fresh encounters and my objective, by freezing these fleeting moments in time, allows anyone to re-create the experience.”

On display will be 13 signed limited edition giclée prints, published on fine art Hahnemühle German etching paper. They were inspired from subjects in some of the artist’s favorite destinations including: Beijing, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kyoto, Paris, New York, New Orleans, Sonoma, Dublin, Amsterdam, Washington and the British Virgin Islands. His piece focused on the London scene, “Red Bus” was recently published in “Splash 9”, a showcase of the best of contemporary watercolor.

The artist highlights his passion to explore how the city atmosphere and nature can be merged through the medium of watercolor. “The first time I walked through a park in Amsterdam and saw the bright colored flowers on a sunny day in spring, I thought that all this may seem normal or even routine to a native but to a traveler they become magical moments. I try to capture these magical moments in my artwork” says David. His artwork is a collection of memories that is communicated through the medium of watercolor.

David, whose work is admired for its subject matter which evokes a feeling of escape and adventure, has traveled the world to soak up the scenery and sensations of the most stunning places. The renowned artist comments that “art should be accessible and something you want to hang on your wall because it reminds you of your favorite experiences.” His key influences are Winslow Homer and J.M.W. Turner who were both also inspired by travel in their time.
