Gleistein Ropes presents its latest innovations for the commercial marine industry at SMM 2014 in Hamburg
First chance to obtain the all-new GeoMarine catalogue at the completely revamped standHamburg, 9 September 2014
Gleistein Ropes opens this year’s SMM in Hamburg with the presentation of its brand new GeoMarine catalogue and its latest innovations at a fully revamped stand. Brimming with pioneering solutions for the commercial marine industry, the GeoMarine catalogue not only depicts a multitude of premium, high performance products for core areas such as towing and mooring, it also delivers answers for the increasingly important subject of rope protection through impregnations and coatings or protective elements to ensure a long and safe service life even under extreme conditions. On show will be streamlined product families such as high performance lines with Dyneema® cores including X-Twin and X-Mooring, as well as the updated DynaOne® family – which now encompasses a total six different product lines including three new offerings: DynaOne® ISO, DynaOne® MAX and Dyna07. The Gleistein LS and HD lifting slings will also make their debut SMM appearance. And those looking for economical solutions won’t be disappointed either: a range of our round and square braids made with BiPo or a BiPo/Polyester mix has been optimised and received a facelift. Also fully revamped is the Gleistein booth, located in Hall A1, Stand 432. The 2014 instalment of the SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology) in Hamburg is the world’s leading international maritime trade fair and is open 9–12 September 2014.
New GeoMarine catalogue
The new GeoMaring catalogue is more clearly structured than ever to help you find what you need faster and more precisely. It now also incorporates a depiction of recommended combinations such as for main towing lines and fore runners for common bollard pulls, or for combinations of inelastic main mooring lines with highly elastic tails for optimal mooring deployment. Tails are also depicted in an overview of ready-made solutions for many standard sizes. A chapter dedicated to methods for increasing service life has been added: impregnations and coatings are highlighted to extend the safe working life of lines in heavy-duty use and protective sleeves for particularly hard-wearing sections of rope are also presented. Overall, the product range has been streamlined to portray product families with a greater system-like structure.
Premium performance thanks to premium Dyneema® fibres
Gleistein continues to exclusively use only HMPE fibres from premium provider and market leader DSM Dyneema® to ensure highest possible quality, reliability and safety for its customers. Dyneema® guarantees exceptional strength with the performance of wire ropes at just a fraction plus exceptional handling characteristics. Only ropes made with Dyneema® SK78 fibres can boast a significantly increased service life when compared to SK75 or any other competitor product. Dyneema® SK78 is now the standard quality at Gleistein.
Reorganisation of rope families and new, updated products
As part of the efforts to streamline the Gleistein range and provide customers with precisely what they need, updated product families have been born. These include high performance ropes with Dyneema® cores such as X-Twin with a braided core and cover, and X-Mooring featuring a cover that bundles seven braided cores. The 12-plait DynaOne® family has now also grown to encompass six different products. New to the fold is: DynaOne® ISO which fully exploits the permissible maximum rope diameter in accordance with ISO 10325 for even greater strength; DynaOne® MAX which provides creep-free performance for deployment under static loads: and Dyna07 which represents an economic alternative with around 40 percent lower costs.
Our economically priced BiPo fibre ropes Power12, PowerPlait and PowerPlait XS and our GeoOne Plus and GeoSquare Plus BiPo/Polyester fibre mix ropes are now easier to splice and feature a new look. The updated colour scheme in striped orange/anthracite ensures torsion becomes immediately visible on these buoyant round or square braids, thereby guaranteeing enhanced safety during use. In addition, the new design also improves rope visibility when in the water or looking against the sky.
Textile lifting slings made of the high performance wire rope alternative DynaOne® are becoming increasingly sought after for maritime deployment. At just a seventh the weight of their wire rope counterparts yet with equal performance, the new Gleistein LS (up to 100t) and Gleistein HD (greater than 100t) lifting slings provide a clever solution for easier handling on all lifting assignments. The standard range can safely handle working loads of up to 560t. Both product lines benefit from our many years of experience in the wind energy sector and exceed current standards by a significant margin. Moreover, they are completely certified by DNV GL and Dekra.
The SMM 2014 opens its gates from 9-12 September in Hamburg. Drop by at the Gleistein booth located in Hall A1, Stand 432, to check out the latest innovations and pick up your personal copy of the all-new GeoMarine catalogue.
