A German investor is exploring options to invest in solar parks in Bulgaria
Profine Energy is interested in investing over EUR 1 billion in Montana regionProfine Energy, a joint venture between the German companies Wirth Gruppe and Profine Group, recently expressed its intention to invest in the construction of a photovoltaic (PV) park at the Ogosta Dam, near Montana, management of the company announces.
At the moment, the negotiations are only at the stage to examine whether such a project is even possible. Meetings were held with representatives of the Bulgarian government and official talks with the regional administration are also forthcoming.
"We consider Bulgaria as an extremely good place for investments. At this point, we are only exploring investment opportunities from a technical and economic point of view, that's all! We have yet to decide whether to participate in a tender if it is announced and under what conditions. However, everything also depends on the possibilities to implement this project. What we can guarantee is that our first concern will be the preservation of nature and the local flora and fauna around and in the dam", shared Dr. Peter Mrosik, Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Profine Group.
The project is very complex and cutting-edge technologies will be used. That would require certain know-how and expertise which will result in a significant transfer of advanced German engineering. This would be a huge benefit for Bulgaria due to the realisation of this project. It would involve also on-site industrial production. That's why construction of a factory in the district is also planned, which will produce components for the solar park and will also train personnel for its maintenance in case the project is to be implemented.
This would be the largest project of this type in Europe and definitely it would be an enormous success for the city of Montana, the Northwest region and whole of Bulgaria. This project would make the city and the country a well-respected energy centre. For Bulgaria, this project is of strategic importance and is going to strengthen Bulgaria´s energy independence and its national security. It also will help Bulgaria to fulfil their obligations towards the European Union regarding green transition. Furthermore, it can popularise Montana and Northwest Bulgaria to other German and international investors.
Any project Profine Energy develops in Bulgaria and elsewhere in the world always meets all local and European regulations and follows best practices from the world's most advanced economies.
"Profine Energy is committed to the protection of the environment and is 100% sustainable. The project would respect and protect local habitats, flora, and fauna. Experience in the Netherlands and Germany has shown that floating PV systems actually protect fish and wildlife and prevent the evaporation of water", Markus Wirth, PV expert and managing director of Profine Energy, explains.
Profine Energy is independent and works trustfully with governments and civil services. The project has the full support of the German Federal Government by the Embassy in Sofia.
