SkyWave SureLinx 8000 dual-mode Satellite/GPRS terminal

Calgary and Ottawa, CANADA - 20 September 2007 – Longview Advantage, SkyWave Mobile Communications and Kore Telematics combine forces to support the H2V relay team who are cycling across Canada to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes.

The Coast to Coast relay started off on the shores of Black Rock Beach in Halifax on September 14 and will continue for 24 hours a day until the team arrives in Stanley Park, Vancouver, 9 days later on September 22. The team has the collective goal of raising $1 million to donate to Juvenile Diabetes research.

The H2V vehicle has been outfitted with SkyWave’s SureLinx 8100 terminal, a dependable, dual-mode cellular/satellite GPS tracking device, and uses free cellular network airtime provided by Kore Telematics. Automatically switching between networks as required, SkyWave’s dual-mode terminal provides ubiquitous coverage of the cyclist’s journey across Canada as they travel in and out of cellular and satellite coverage areas.

“Longview Advantage is a pioneer in the fleet management and asset tracking industry in North America,” says Alain Nicolle, North American Sales Director for SkyWave. “SkyWave is pleased to support their consumer, commercial and this goodwill application with our reliable, cost-effective satellite products and network services.”

Cyclist location data is sent to the Longview Advantage application server and displayed over the Internet, giving relay supporters and their families the ability to pinpoint the cyclists on a map at the exact location along their journey. Providing this unique blend of leading edge technology for the benefit of the supporters and families also provides all three companies with unique chance to map the network coverage across Canada.

“Working with telematics industry leaders such as Kore and SkyWave ensures our applications have the best combination of low-cost and dependable coverage across the country, regardless of location,” says Bill Quinney, President of Longview Advantage.

This partnership confirms that business can work together to provide creative services for the benefit of the broader volunteer community. We are proud to be able to contribute in this small way by supporting this important cause and we wish the H2V team the very best in achieving their goal.
