Trebing + Himstedt to focus on SAP MES business and sell Industrial Communication portfolio to Softing

Acquisition complements new owner Softing’s existing product line, especially for PROFINET and Industrial Ethernet Monitoring

Schwerin, April 30, 2014 - Trebing + Himstedt, an international supplier of products and services for the optimal use of IT in the production environment, has decided to concentrate on its business unit “Manufacturing Integration” for SAP MES solutions and to sell its Industrial Communication product portfolio to Softing Industrial Automation GmbH, a leading provider of communications and diagnostics technology. The portfolio will transfer to Softing on May 1, 2014.

As a leading SAP Manufacturing partner, Trebing + Himstedt has decided to focus on its business unit “Manufacturing Integration” in order to concentrate more intently on the growth market Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with SAP. “The Industry 4.0 initiative shows how important integration in the digital factory will be in the future. Trebing + Himstedt’s unique combination of shop floor know-how and SAP expertise will enable it to fully exploit its strengths in this area,” says Steffen Himstedt, managing director of Trebing + Himstedt. “I’m certain our customers will welcome a clear focus on the SAP MES line of business and that this clear focus will offer us more opportunities for growth,” adds Stefan Trebing, managing director of Trebing + Himstedt. As an SAP partner, Trebing + Himstedt implements and licenses all of the SAP Manufacturing suite products.

The product portfolio that Softing Industrial Automation GmbH has acquired includes solutions for permanent monitoring of industrial networks. PROFIBUS, PROFINET and Industrial Ethernet users in particular can use this technology to implement modern Asset Management solutions that help maximize production facilities availability. - “These Trebing + Himstedt products are an ideal complement to Softing Industrial Automation GmbH’s existing portfolio, especially in the area of network diagnostics.
