Hands-On Cobots in Practice: Potentials, Applications and Further Training - the Universal Robots Perspective

New Book: Hands-On Cobots in Practice: Potentials, Applications and Further Training - the Universal Robots Perspective
In times of lack of specialist staff and demographic change, cobots - robots that collaborate with the existing workforce - offer many advantages - both to the companies that adopt them and to the employees who interact with them. Prejudice with respect to automation is often rooted in the lack of training and competence transfer in the automation field. Although digitalization and automation are no longer a future vision, but today's reality, young people are not adequately prepared for them before they start their careers.
So that pupils and students can be equipped with the skills they need for tomorrow's workforce, a constant exchange between schools, training companies and robot manufacturers is needed. After all, young people starting their apprenticeships now are exactly the skilled workers that many companies so urgently need. This eBook reveals the need and offers potential approaches for developing robotics skills.
"The continuous development of cobot applications comes at a time of far-reaching social and economic change. Due to shortage of labor and demographics, companies are faced with increasing difficulties in finding qualified personnel. Collaborating robots unburden employees, increase overall productivity, enable business growth, and often even create new jobs. Communicating such goals clearly and transparently - preferably before the automation solution is developed- they can be achieved most easily.", Andrea Alboni, General Manager Western Europe, Universal Robots
"Depending on the employee's role in the company, it is important that he or she is fully trained about the relevant functions of the cobot. Only individuals who know all the options will be able to quickly uncover additional potential applications in their operations or in production and thereby work more efficiently.", Sven Krüger, Global Master Trainer, Industry Program, Universal Robots
"According to the World Robotics Report released by the International Federation of Robots in 2022, installations of industrial robots are at an all-time high. Robot installations in Europe peaked and demand from the general industry was up by 51%. Exports of industrial robots from Germany were up 41%, exceeding the pre-pandemic level. In order to stay competitive and also to combat shortages of skilled staff, it is time for robotics skills to have a higher priority in curricula for schools and also for continuing education of the workforce in general. In their inspiring eBook, Andrea Alboni and Sven Krüger have not only highlighted the need to fill the skills gap, but have also delivered innovative approaches to how to do this. We are therefore delighted that this eBook is also a chapter in our new book "Digital Competence and Future Skills"- recently released by Hanser Publishing", Dr. Philipp Ramin, CEO and Founder of i40 - the future skills company and publishing editor.
