An electric cycling tour of Cologne

Cologne, Germany. September 11, 2007 – JD, the manufacturer of mobility products and bike components, is teaming up with Taiwanese airline EVA AIR to host a special event on Friday, September 14 during the IFMA bicycle trade show.

Around 20 trade fair visitors and members of the media will get a chance to experience the TranzX Power Support Technology pedal-activated drive system while exploring Cologne on two wheels.

The Explore Cologne E-Tour starts at the trade fair grounds, takes riders along the Rhine River, visiting famous Cologne landmarks and ends in Cologne’s historical old town. Participants will be prompted to discover a few of Cologne’s world famous sights during the tour as part of the event competition.

The winner of the Explore Cologne E-Tour will receive a round-trip Elite Class ticket with EVA AIR from Paris to Taipei. The second-place winner will take home a TranzX PST powered Spirit bicycle and the third-place winner will receive a JD Bug aluminum scooter.

“JD is very pleased to join EVA AIR and we’re excited to be able to demonstrate the viability of electric bicycles as sustainable, clean vehicle transport to our guests and the media,” said Johnson Cho, JDs general manager.

Together with German partners deVELOpment engineering GmbH and Point bike-innovation GmbH, JD will provide a variety of electric bicycles for participants to ride during the Explore Cologne E-Tour event.

IFMA Cologne, the bicycle sector's leading business fair, will be held from September 13-16. Nearly 650 exhibitors from 35 countries will be presenting the latest products and trends at the fair, which is expected to attract around 25,000 trade visitors and 30,000 non-trade visitors.
