It is prepared by using three processes: Castner-Kellner process, Nelson Diaphragm cell, and Loewig's process. The Castner-Kellner method is one of the most commonly used processes for manufacturing caustic soda. In the Castner-Kellner method, electrolysis of brine solution is carried out to obtain sodium hydroxide. The caustic soda obtained after this process is employed as a cleansing agent and in the manufacture of washing soda.
