User-generated content (UGC) as way of increasing sales and improving customer satisfaction receives more attention to online sellers. Today, more than half of UK online customers say reviews are extremely or very important in making an online purchase, and more than half say they have more trust and respect for brands that show product reviews (Source: Bazaarvoice & Vizu Research, 2007). Customer ratings and reviews are being used more often than before, with more online sellers considering the use of this feature on their websites. But other than traditional affiliate marketing campaign setups merchants facing two problems using social commerce sites for affiliate marketing. One is tracking and the other one is the quality of data to be presented. Today’s tracking technology has some kind of complexity to build in various formats of advertising media, product data feeds and supports different tracking methodologies like cookie, session, or other tracking approaches. This technology was mainly build for more advanced internet users having a different skill set than internet users using today’s Web 2.0 features. The wide range of data to be connected across social commerce sites has a need for new solutions.
