THE RED in Düsseldorf wins award in the ‘small is beautiful’ category of serviced apartments.

Special services for guests, ambience and comfort, image, design and degree of innovation – just some of the criteria demanded of the award nominees at the first SO!APART awards in Hamburg. The awards ceremony was the highlight of the two-day industry event organised by the renowned internet platform apartmentservice.de. The list of participants was practically a Who’s Who in the sector. Award winner in the ‘Die kleinen Feinen - small is beautiful’ category: THE RED – Düsseldorf’s exclusive serviced apartment house located directly on the Rhine and next to the city centre.

For years, the Partner House Conference by the internet platform apartmentservice.de has been the event in the apartment industry calendar. The largest independent serviced apartment reservation system expanded its 2013 conference to become a comprehensive and glamorous public event. The high point was Germany’s first SO!APART awards for excellence in the apartment house sector. During the awards ceremony, entrepreneur Anett Gregorius (managing director of Berlin-based company Boardinghouse Consulting, which operates the apartmentservice.de platform) said ‘This award is long overdue’. ‘We have shown that anyone looking for a temporary home in Germany now has far more choice than just a hotel room.’ Business travellers in particular recognised this some time ago. A well-stocked fridge, ironed shirts and fresh rolls for breakfast – individual apartments are not only more reasonably priced, but also offer the guest a home-from-home feeling whilst on the road.

The awards ceremony took place in the Adina Apartment Hotel Hamburg Michel. Sixty six of the leading apartment houses in Germany were considered for the award. The five-man judging panel of senior experts and branch insiders awarded first prize in the ‘Die kleinen Feinen - small is beautiful’ category for buildings with a maximum 50 apartments to THE RED in Düsseldorf. The managers René Siemen and Klaus Fella explained the success of the charming and monument listed serviced apartment house: ‘THE RED has something the others don’t have, including a premium fitout and its quiet location directly next to the city centre and the Rhine’. ‘THE RED is simply unique and is an absolute highlight of Düsseldorf’s hospitality industry.’
