i7 PCs with optimised cooling

The processing of image data is processor-intensive. Whether for video monitoring of traffic flow or imaging techniques for medical technology: processor power is demanded. However, powerful processors develop extreme temperatures when constantly burdened and these must be dissipated as fast and as efficiently as possible. The new ECS-5600 series Box PCs from acceed solve this task with optimised coolers. Moreover, they offer the required high processor power for image processing with the i7 processor.

The top models in the ECS-5600 series are equipped with the powerful Intel i7 processor. In addition, i5, i3 and Celeron processors are available for selection. All the systems are based on chipset QM67 from Intel. The admissible ambient temperature for operation is -25 to +70 °C. This extreme temperature range is enabled by the optimised coolers: all components which generate heat are placed spread on one side of the board and connected directly to the heat sink in the casing. This guarantees optimum heat dissipation at all times. The performance level remains constant and the casing consisting of high-quality aluminium on the outside is always under the critical limit of 50 °C.

The dimensions of the casing are 260 × 78 × 175 mm and it weighs 2.8 kg. A mounting bracket for wall installation is supplied.

Up to 16 GB DDR3 working memory provides ample capacity for the high data throughput by image processing. The casing has space for two 2.5" hard drives; here HDD and fast SSD can be combined. For fast external saving of large data quantities, a CFast slot is provided at the front and two eSATA connections at the back.

The ECS-5600 series offers a wide range of interfaces: USB 2.0, COM, Mini PCIe, SATA and Gigabit LAN. In addition to VGA (2048 × 1536 pixels), DVI-D/HDMI (1920 × 1200 pixels) and 5.1 audio are also provided as multimedia interfaces. Full HD is possible via the graphic Intel chipset GMA HD 3000. The wide voltage range from 6 to 36 volts also opens areas of use in the mobile area such as intelligent transport systems or car PCs.

In addition to a watchdog timer (1 to 255 seconds), which makes an automatic system reboot possible if the software freezes, the systems have CPU overheating protection. In case of imminent overheating, the cycle frequency of the processor is automatically restricted, thus reducing the waste heat arising.
