IMCRadio/IMCOnAir and SABN (South Asian Broadcasting Network) are media partner for the INDIA MUSIC WEEK (N.Y.)

(09/30/2013–FHH) The ARChive of Contemporary Music (ARC) in NewYork (USA) launches on 6th October 2013 the India Music Week (IMW). IMCRadio/IMCOnAir and SABN (South Asian Broadcasting Network) are the official media partners for the IMW2013.

ARC will lead an online project to celebrate Indian music and culture from 6th till 13th October, 2013. ARC realizes the project in collaboration with Columbia Libraries at Columbia University, and with the support of founding partners Gracenote, Incredible Labs and the Internet Archive (IA).

IMW2013 will be an online project to present, promote and explore the cultural heritage of Indian music of the past, present and future. IMW will offer videos, histories, seminars, concerts, lectures, sound files, sheet music, broadcasts, narrowcasts, album cover art galleries, essays, blogs, photos and links all highlighting the importance and beauty of Indian music as well as educate a global audience about it's many genres and facets. ARC is building the database on an existing collection of 5,000 Indian recordings. With Graenote will be catalogued 25,000 Asian Indian recordings issued domestically and from around the world. ARC has created links to more than 3,500 related music industry and academic sites, as well as contacts to more than 4,000 artists. This database will be available for free use.

The INDIA MUSIC WEEK 2013 will be accompanied by IMCRadio/IMCOnAir with special features around the topic “sound” (Sanskrit: Nada = flow). In 2012 was set up the SABN (South Asian roadcasting Network) to expand the media coverage internationally. With SABN an international audience can be reached for the INDIA MUSIC WEEK.

ARC & IMC (Short) Profiles:

The ARC now is in its 28th year. The ARChive of Contemporary Music mainly consists of a collection of popular music, with more than two million popular music recordings. It is supported by a Board of Advisors comprised of musicians, songwriters and directors (e.g. David Bowie, Jellybean Benitez, Jonathan Demme, Michael Feinstein, Youssou N'Dour, Lou Reed, Keith Richards, Nile Rodgers, Todd Rundgren, Fred Schneider, Martin Scorsese, Paul Simon and Mike Stoller.)

The promotion initiative IMC - India meets Classic was founded in 2005 (in Hanseatic City Hamburg) to support an inter-cultural dialogue between India/South Asia and Europe. In March 2006 started the monthly radio broadcasting for Indian Music Culture. Since 2011 the radio shows are broadcasted in Austria, Switzerland and Germany… and worldwide as webradio. Till today more than 100 broadcasting hours have been produced.
