STAR ISLAND YACHT CLUB HOSTS 4TH ANNUAL STRIPED BASS TOURNAMENT
Montauk, NY — On Sunday, October 6, Star Island Yacht Club will host its 4th Annual Striped Bass Tournament. Anglers can try their luck catching the biggest and heaviest striped bass and bluefish, with $10,000 in prize money. Fishing will take place from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an awards ceremony to be held later that night. A Captain’s Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at StarIsland.Last year, over $52,000 in prizes were awarded across the board. Keith Salisbury, captain of the “Lori Marie,” reeled in the biggest bass, weighing 40.8 pounds. Andrew Hanley caught the heaviest bluefish aboard Don Brown’s “Blackfoot.”
Competitors can choose to enter their own recreational boat or compete on a boat provided by the Star Island Yacht Club Charter Fishing Fleet, complete with a highly skilled and knowledgeable Charter Captain as a guide. The entry fee is $475 (up to six people), with $50 for each additional angler. For more information on chartering, call StarIsland at (631) 668-5052.
