Magic Internet Technologies has partnered with the Freight Transport Association (FTA), the largest trade association for the transport industry, to launch FTA Drivers’ Walk Around Check powered by Truckfile, a new version of the market–leading compliance software solution for HGV fleet operators. Available exclusively online, FTA Drivers’ Walk Around Check will improve the effectiveness of the compliance checking process for FTA members, who operate more than 200,000 goods vehicles representing almost half the UK fleet.

According to Samantha Law, General Manager of Shopfta, FTA Affinities and PCN Administration Service: “FTA Drivers’ Walk Around Check powered by Truckfile provides an alternative to the manual paper-based compliance checking processes traditionally used throughout the freight transport industry and will enable our members to quickly and easily comply with all VOSA standards for maintaining road-worthiness. It provides fleet operators with greater control over the compliance process and will make a major contribution towards raising standards and increasing the safety of HGV vehicles on our roads.”

FTA Drivers’ Walk Around Check powered by Truckfile provides members with an electronic walk-around checking solution that can be used by drivers using smartphones or tablet computers including Apple and specified Android devices. Drivers must physically carry out all required inspections by scanning QR tags placed at various points inside and outside the vehicle. This ensures that all inspections are carried out before the check can be signed off as complete. It delivers high levels of automation with the management system storing all completed drivers checks and sending emails alerting management about any defects found that need rectification before the vehicle is safe to drive.

“We are delighted that the FTA has endorsed Truckfile as a comprehensive compliance checking solution for its members,” commented Paul Clarke, Managing Director of Magic Internet Technologies. “It consolidates our position as the leading developer of innovative fleet management solutions that are easy to deploy and use for operators of every size.”

FTA Drivers’ Walk Around Check can be ordered online from the FTA at www.shop.fta.co.uk. Members then receive a pack of QR codes with full instructions detailing where they should be placed. They can then download an app, either Apple iOS or Android, for use on smartphones or tablet computers used by drivers.

Users have rapid, browser-based access to their compliance data around the clock from any internet-enabled device and there is no need to install or maintain software on individual servers or PCs. This eliminates the need for system housekeeping tasks such as backups to be carried out.
