Press release from: atsec information security

Bangkok, Thailand – atsec information security is pleased to announce the opening of its atsec South East Asia (atsec SEA) office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since the year 2000, the atsec group of companies have been established experts in information security including Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, PCI, ISO 27001, and hardware testing.

As part of the atsec group of companies, atsec SEA’s objective is to promote information security and information assurance in the expanding SE Asia Pacific region that is demanding the skills and know-how to implement international standards. Goals for atsec SEA include:

- Understand and promote the SE Asia Pacific IT security market;
- Participate in the development of emerging IT security standards in the region;
- Work with offshore development teams who need to understand the IT security standards;
- Provide professional security consulting across the SE Asia Pacific region;
- Help security vendors in SE Asia Pacific understand overseas markets, so that they can export their products to the U.S. or Europe.

The new atsec office is located in Bangkok’s CBD, close to the BTS Sukhumvit Nana station and the MTR Asok Station. Gordon McIntosh, Managing Director of atsec SEA and former Common Criteria Lab Manager with atsec corporation and Common Criteria Architect for the IBM pSeries, will be leading the effort to build the atsec SEA office with the help of all atsec office associates in the U.S., Germany, China and Sweden.

Mr. McIntosh commented, “The SE Asia Pacific region has been the beneficiary of extensive software and hardware offshore development efforts; however, the equivalent progress in information security expertise has yet to develop. To effectively serve this market and deliver atsec’s expertise in information security and international security standards to the region, it is necessary to establish a presence in SE Asia Pacific. Because it is essential to have native speakers that are experts not only in IT security, but are also familiar with the current customs and business practices in the region; opening a local office is necessary to give us the capability necessary to meet our goals.”
