Press release from: Blue Orange Games

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—August 20, 2013—Blue Orange Games, leading creators of tabletop games for families, is pleased to announce their partnership with Save The Bay, the largest organization working to protect and restore the San Francisco Bay. The Dogpatch based game company will donate a portion of its wholesale revenues in the Bay Area to the organization’s efforts.
With hundreds of accounts in the Bay Area and deep relationships with local specialty stores, this initiative promises to benefit the local environment as well as community members, who are provided with an easy way to do their part to support a healthy San Francisco Bay, which is so important to people and wildlife. Every purchase will contribute to the funding of Save The Bay’s efforts. This means supporting the restoration of natural habitats, protecting the Bay from pollution and inappropriate shoreline development, securing policies to re-establish 100,000 acres of vital wetlands, and educating future generations on hot to be Bay stewards.
Both avid sailors and water sports enthusiasts, the company founders have always been passionate about the Bay. “We actually first discussed the idea of starting a game company while sailing on the Bay together back in 2000,” said Julien Mayot, Blue Orange Games’ CEO.
“We are thankful for the opportunity to help right here at home in the Bay Area and improve the land and community in which we live. Environmental responsibility has been at the core of our ethos since day one; the name of our company is even taken from a French poem praising the planet. We couldn’t wish for a more action-oriented and dedicated organization to begin a partnership with. The team really looks forward to volunteering on a restoration project with Save The Bay in the upcoming months as well,” said Mayot.
“It’s great to see local businesses recognize that the Bay is central to our economy and quality of life in the Bay Area,” said David Lewis, Save The Bay’s Executive Director. “We’re thankful for Blue Orange Games’ support of our work to protect and restore our greatest natural resource and excited about this new partnership.”
The Save The Bay partnership adds a local reach to Blue Orange Games’ other initiatives to reduce their environmental impact. Since 2007, they’ve been committed to their Tree Campaign which makes the production of their playing cards and line of wooden games more sustainable. The company plants two trees for every one tree used in game construction and has planted over 125,000 to date. Their annual carbon footprint is accounted for via additional reforestation of Fair Trade cocoa plantations in the Amazon, which also works to support the sustainable development of rural communities.
Shoppers can look for the Save The Bay stickers on Blue Orange Games’ products in local specialty stores and Whole Foods stores.
