New Petroleum Agency (ANP) Resolution in the Brazilian Oil and Gas Industry – ALPHA Provides International Know-How for INMETRO Certification

On 14/07/2013, the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) launched new criteria and procedures for certification in the Brazilian oil and gas industry. With the “Resolution 19” new quality standards for the export of goods and equipment entered into force. These changes to the previous procedure are obligatory for the export to Brazil.

Brazil is one of the fastest growing emerging economies and thus, it is very attractive for the export. In particular, the demand of new products for industry and infrastructure is remarkably high. “In order to that, county-specific quality standards have to be considered obligatorily. Thus, for the latest changes for the oil and gas industry that entered into force with ‘Resolution 19’, a specified expertise is required when it comes to INMETRO certification”, emphasizes the director of ALPHA, Dr Thomas Krause.

For INMETRO certification, ALPHA is an approved and experienced partner as Brazil is one of the companies’ target countries for many years. Even with the new requirements, many certificates are still valid and allow making the procedure more efficient (e.g. IECEx certifications). Nevertheless, Krause emphasizes that the whole procedure is very complicated without the necessary expert knowledge: “According to compliance and cost-efficiency the support of a competent and specialized team just like our company is essential for a successful export”.
