DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) Loves Seniors - One Yard Bag At A Time

Lombard, IL [June 8, 2022] DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) volunteers and a local business served seniors in May through their Yard Clean Up program.

"Maintaining a home can be challenging for many seniors", said Marylin Krolak, Executive Director of DuPage Senior Citizens Council. "We make it easier so seniors can live independently in their home as long as possible".

Over the course of two weekends during the spring and the fall, volunteers rake leaves and pick up yard debris for seniors through DSCC's Yard Clean Up program. This month, local partner, Lombard Ace Hardware, supported DSCC by donating rakes, gloves, yard bags and other needed items to help volunteers clean up senior's yards - giving seniors a sense of pride and connection.

Jim Daluga, owner of Lombard Ace Hardware said, "We know how a well-maintained home brings joy and happiness. We want seniors to feel good about their home and show them that others care about them. Providing the supplies to DSCC helps volunteers do a great job."

Krolak added, "DSCC's Yard Clean Up program provides another way for volunteers and local organizations to meet the needs of seniors and make them feel loved and connected to the community".
