S970 snap-action switches are used by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG as position and limit switches.

Munich, 29 April 2013: Schaltbau’s latest S970-series snap-action switches are installed in sophisticated printing machines made by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. These hardwearing, highly efficient components operate as position and limit switches in the printing and coating units of state-of-the-art sheet-fed offset printing presses.

The snap-action switches installed in these machines are exposed to severe conditions. Not only do they need to be resistant to aggressive chemical detergents, they also have to be resilient to the powder dust used to dry the printed sheets – and they consistently manage to perform both of these feats. The S926 and S970 series are designed with highly robust polyetherimide (PEI) housings. The material has numerous advantages over the conventional polycarbonate, including greater stability when exposed to extreme temperatures and harsh chemicals as well as 50% greater shock resistance. The snap-action switches are therefore suitable for use wherever impact forces require materials to withstand a great deal of shock. But the S9xx series is not only ideal for use in printing equipment: these versatile components are also impervious to saltwater spray and salty solutions, making them highly suitable for offshore applications such as in the wind power sector.

“Connect – Contact – Control” is the motto under which Schaltbau GmbH develops and manufactures electromechanical components for rail, energy, industry and material handling. Founded in 1929, the company has ten locations of its own and more than 60 sales partners worldwide. The Schaltbau range of products includes connectors, snap-action switches and contactors as well as electrics for rolling stock. The Schaltbau GmbH quality management system is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 and its ecological management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001. The company has been certified as a Q1 supplier to Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) since 2004. The german plants Velden and Aldersbach have been quality-certified in accordance with IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) since October 2008.
