Booming Events Industry Shares Best Practices and the Next Big Thing at Miami Conference & Expo

MIAMI — Event Solutions magazine will host its annual Idea Factory: Events, Education, Expo in Miami Beach, Fla., at the Miami Beach Convention Center from Aug. 20 - 23, 2007. The national trade publication will host an international audience of event planners, including Miami residents and other Florida-area event professionals who are involved as producers and attendees at the event. The conference will contribute more than $2 million to the local economy, according to an estimate by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

According to the Event Solutions Annual Forecast 2007, its readers coordinate 127 events per year on average, at an average cost per event of $33,713. With more than 2,500 expected attendees at the conference, the potential economic impact of future events planned in south Florida by attendees is much higher. The Convention Industry Council estimates the event industry contributes more than $158 billion to the U.S. national economy annually.

The award-winning Idea Factory, recently named Best Conference & Expo by FOLIO magazine, creates a graphic, innovative and strategic atmosphere for the event industry to exchange ideas and best event practices. Passionatta: A Night of Sweet Obsession will be the steamiest exclusive South Beach ticket at Mansion night club. Florida opens her arms with a two-hour spectacular based solely around life’s passions, to welcome event planners and producers from around the world to the Event Solutions Idea Factory. This sexy soiree is all about raw, unabashed passion…a summit of delirious visions, flavors, ecstasy, and beauty.

Event Solutions and catersource magazines will co-host the Fabulous Showcase Event & catersource Culinary Event at 7:30 p.m. on Wed. Aug. 22 at the Soho Studios at the Wynwood Convention Center, where event professionals will get a sneak peak into the “next big thing” in events in 2008. Event producers from Florida will be showing their freshest ideas, as years of experience producing the events everyone is dying to attend help them rock the party in tactile, tasty and shocking ways.

The Event Solutions Spotlight Awards and Event Industry Hall of Fame will be at the Olympia Theater, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs. Aug. 23. Event professionals will be honored as the best in their class, after being nominated for extraordinary work, creativity and commitment to their crafts. Nominees submitted photos and written entries to Event Solutions and an industry-wide vote selected winners. The evening’s events include a ceremony, dinner & after-party at the historic Alfred I. Dupont building.

EDUCATION

During the four-day event, event professionals can also participate in more than 70 seminars and workshops, a real-time competition hosted by The Recording Academy’s GRAMMY producers, and a heart-stopping showcase event where event pros highlight their best ideas for an audience of peers.

Daily full production general sessions will present featured speakers on the Idea Stage in the center of the exhibition hall, including:

• Chef Jeffery Henderson, author of recent New York Times best selling memoir “Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove, From Cocaine to Foie Gras,” will relate his fascinating life story and sign books. Film rights for “Cooked” were recently bought by Columbia Pictures for Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Escape Artist.
• Frank Supovitz, senior vice president of events for the NFL and member of the Event Solutions Hall of Fame, will talk about execution of “mega events.”
• Michael Cerbelli, president of special events for New York’s Total Entertainment, will present his fourth annual Hot Event & Entertainment Ideas.

In partnership with catersource magazine, the Idea Factory will offer the catersource Summer Symposium of catering-related courses as well.

EXPO
