NDS AND BROADCOM BRING MEDIAHIGHWAY TO BROADCOM® CHIPSETS, CREATING A NEW DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM FOR THE OCAP MARKET

Las Vegas (CES) – January 5, 2006 – NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, announced today that it has ported its MediaHighway middleware to the Broadcom® BCM97398 advanced decoder reference platform. Broadcom is a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors. NDS‘s MediaHighway middleware is an open and easy-to-use platform for the development of advanced television applications.

The new global solution is based on both the MediaHighway OCAP middleware and the Broadcom BCM7038 chipset family plus accompanying BCM7411. The innovative reference platform will simplify the design process for both cable operators and consumer electronics manufacturers, reducing time to market for OCAP-compliant solutions.

The Broadcom BCM7038 is a dual high-definition digital video system-on-a-chip solution for cable, satellite and digital television. It enables manufacturers to economically incorporate high-quality HDTV and DVR capabilities into digital televisions, cable set-top boxes, satellite receivers and HD DVD players. It is accompanied on the reference platform by the BCM7411 for HD AVC/H.264 support.
