• Starting March 10, a variety of items produced in compliance with sustainable and socially responsible practices will be available at Biedronka, Poland's largest retail chain.
• Products include Wayúu mochilas, coffee, arepas, and chocolate.
• This import was made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of ProColombia and the Colombian Embassy in Poland.

The bilateral relationship between Poland and Colombia has continued to get significantly stronger. One example of this is Poland's importation of eighteen containers full of products with the Made in Colombia seal, manufactured under sustainable and socially responsible practices.

Among the Colombian items arriving in the Old Continent through Hamburg's port are: 24,000 Wayúu mochilas (bags handwoven by the Wayúu indigenous group), 12 containers with roasted coffee and coffee snacks, three with arepas, two with chocolate, and one with coffee candies. In Poland, more than 20 containers of products-including coffee beans, confectionery, chocolate bars, typical drinks, plantain snacks, dried fruits, and arequipe (traditional dulce de leche)-are already waiting to be distributed.

Colombia has had a trade agreement in place with the European Union since 2013. Starting March 10, these Colombian products will go on sale in various Biedronka stores-Poland's largest retail chain-which is owned by the Jeronimo Martins Group. Biedronka, with over 27 years of experience in the Polish market, offers carefully selected high-quality products at everyday low prices. Starting March 10, iconic Colombian products will be available in each of the more than 3,250 Biedronka stores throughout Poland.

Each product represents a specific region of Colombia and promotes the culture of its farmers and artisans, as well as the warmth of its people. For example, coffee is produced in the department of Quindío, part of the coffee-growing region. This product has an excellent reputation throughout the world. Colombia is the leading producer worldwide of mild and specialty single-origin coffees, which stand out for their planting techniques and premium quality. The Colombian variety is 100% Arabica, with higher acidity and smoothness, better infusion quality, an intense aroma, and a lower concentration of caffeine. Another item soon to be available at Biedronka is the mochila. These bags are handwoven by indigenous Wayúu women in northern Colombia. This group of people still fiercely preserves its cultural traditions, including the craft of weaving. The mochilas are made using a crochet technique, and each piece takes approximately 5 days to create. Around 600 families of artisans collaborated to produce the number of mochilas ordered by Biedronka.

These products have arrived in Poland thanks to the collaboration between the public and private sectors. Both ProColombia and the Embassy of Colombia in Poland carried out a series of actions to boost Colombian exports in the retail chain and diversify the offer. This strategy aligned perfectly with Biedronka's interest in Colombia's agricultural products.

Colombia and Poland's commercial relationship is rapidly developing. In 2020, non-mineral and non-energy exports to Poland registered US $72.7 million-a 129.1% increase compared to 2019. In 2021, they reached US $83.4 million-a 15% increase-mostly due to an increase in the sale of bananas, fresh flowers, coffee derivatives, and processed seafood products.
