Inside Out Club Partners With DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) to Help Seniors and Their Pets
Kids from the Inside Out Club are collecting pet food for seniors.
"Pets are important for seniors struggling with isolation and loneliness. And seniors should not have to choose between feeding their pet and feeding themselves," said Marylin Krolak, Executive Director of DuPage Senior Citizens Council. "Our Pet Care & Food Assistance Program gives homebound seniors food for their pets. But getting pet food donations is difficult and we rely on the generosity of others to support the program."
Inside Out Club develops character in preschool and elementary school children and encourages them to get involved in their local community. By encouraging pet food donations from local partners, they are helping support older adults in DSCC's PetCare & Food Assistance Program.
Inside Out Club Executive Director and Founder, Marion Ruthig said, "We have many programs to support seniors. We recognize the value seniors have and feel it is important for children to connect with seniors whenever possible. This program combines a kid's love for pets and their desire to help others."
Krolak added, "There is such a beautiful and unique connection between the generations. Seniors love knowing that children are taking an interest in them and the children learn a lot from seniors."
