Best essay on humanitarian topic to win one semester free tuition

Munich, 08 August 2007 – AidConnect e.V. is collaborating with the Globe Business College Munich (GBCM) to support a scholarship focusing on business ethics and humanitarian aid (www.globe-college.com). Every year students from around the globe can apply for the scholarship, the amount awarded being equivalent to one semester’s tuition. As part of the scholarship applicants are required to complete an essay on a humanitarian-related topic which is determined by AidConnect and the Scholarship Committee. The winning essay will be published on the AidConnect website www.aidconnect.org.

According to Donna Barron, Director of Student Affairs at GBCM, “The primary aim of the scholarship is to encourage our students to think more deeply about ethical issues in the business context. In addition to the initial essay, the scholarship recipient will conduct work on the ethical theme throughout the course of their studies at Globe College. This will be undertaken with a view to supporting AidConnect and also to raise awareness of business ethics issues among the student body as a whole”.

AidConnect – Linking people who want to help
The website www.aidconnect.org connects people who organize humanitarian projects and people who want to get involved in humanitarian projects. Organizers have the opportunity to promote their projects to a wide audience as well as exchanging their experiences with other groups and to inform them about the support they need for their project. Likewise it provides donors with information on current and potential projects as well as the opportunity to get in direct contact with the organizers.

“We are very pleased to cooperate with Globe Business College Munich on this scholarship program”, said Shari Temple, vice-chair for AidConnect e.V. and managing director for Aidmatrix Europe. “It is important that the next generation addresses global humanitarian and ethical needs. It’s encouraging to see Globe College’s students taking an interest in this area.”

GBCM – Practically Focused Business Education in the English Language

The Globe Business College is private college located in the centre of Munich offering business programs taught completely in the English language.
According to Donna Barron “We are delighted to be working in collaboration with AidConnect and we view the scholarship program as just the first step. Over time, the intention is to strengthen this relationship to include further areas of support such as case study development and research. We see the collaboration in terms of a win-win situation for both parties. GBCM students are provided with an opportunity to transfer theoretical knowledge gained in courses such as ethics and globalisation to a real life not-for-profit situation, whereas AidConnect can hopefully benefit from the work undertaken by the College and the students”

Application criteria for the scholarship
Both new and existing undergraduate students at the Globe Business College Munich may apply for the scholarship. Deadline for applications is August 31st, 2007 and the final selection of a scholarship winner will be made in September.
