Manage your business not the software

Manage your business not the software

Law firms have, for a long time, realised that success in the future will be defined by their ability to deliver their services digitally. To achieve this, Cloud is now an incredibly important solution in terms of availability and convenience as it creates cost efficiencies for firms and brings scalable opportunities for firms with strategic goals to grow their business.

According to Gartner, worldwide end-user spending on public Cloud services is forecast to grow 18.4% in 2021, demonstrating the rapid adoption of cloud technology across businesses. This trend will ultimately continue within the legal market. It's why SOS, a PracticeEvolve company, offer Cloud Hosting solutions and a longer-term native Cloud solution. Here we look at just some of the trends we can expect in the coming years.

Applications will move to the cloud
As consumers, we are very much used to using Cloud solutions but we often don't think about it, instead just getting on with it. With Microsoft Office and Google Docs being cloud solutions so often being adopted by businesses, it often leaves firms only requiring servers for their Practice Management system. Firms are now starting to look for new, browser-based apps as an alternative to applications requiring installation and as such, more legal technology providers are moving to offer Cloud solutions.

Mid-tier firms will drive cloud adoption
Cloud-based services make a wide range of business tools available to all customers, irrespective of their budget or profile. It's easier and more cost efficient to host business applications with a cloud service provider than pay to maintain IT infrastructure in-house. Consequently, mid-tier law firms will drive adoption of Cloud solutions as they are in pole position to scale operations quickly and effectively.

Secure data storage needs will increase
Recently, a spate of security hacks has seen the data compromised for a number of firms. There is a very real fear in how susceptible firms are to cybercrime so with applications moving to the cloud, there is a need for data storage to remain secure with certification and encryption services. With Cloud-based solutions needing client data to be stored in the cloud, firms will need to look for solutions to manage their data securely, often citing ISO 27001 levels of security. In parallel, firms will need to retain the ability to access, aggregate and search their own data stored outside of their own servers.

Firms to be comfortable with Cloud
Electronic documents and signatures are becoming ever more prominent which will act as an additional driver for solutions confirming the authenticity of information. We expect this to drive the uptake in Cloud solutions, specifically focused on fully native Cloud software that is purely browser based.

Ultimately, the transition to cloud isn't always straight forward for firms with much to consider but the benefits of flexibility, efficiency and faster innovation are too good to ignore when securing the strategic future of the law firm.

Linetime, a PracticeEvolve company, have afforded firms a pathway to the Cloud strategy that ensures the transition to the cloud can be conducted at the pace set by the firm, countering the key issues which often delay decisions. Essentially, SOS are taking responsibility for your future by providing a seamless transition for their users on the way to the cloud.
