Storm-damaged Tunza Centre

A St Helens-based car repairs and tyres service has today (21st Feb) launched a fundraising drive to repair the Tunza Pride, and has donated £5,000 of its own money.

Fastlane Autocare, headquartered at Boundary Road, is raising funds for the neighbouring charity-owned community centre, so it can repair damage sustained in recent stormy weather.

The UK has been recently battered by Storm Eunice, Storm Dudley and Storm Franklin, and the Tunza Pride Centre was one of many casualties, with an external structure suffering particularly severe damage.

Tunza Pride is owned and operated by a charity that supports children and underprivileged people, and operates as a function room and meeting-place.

Mark Coakley, director of Fastlane Autocare (https://www.fastlaneautocare.co.uk), said:

"When I saw Tunza Pride, my heart sank.

"The charity has done a huge amount for the local community, and it was a punch in the gut to see that its community centre was damaged after the storms.

"We quickly got out the collection boxes and started raising cash so that Tunza Pride can get back to its former glory as quickly as possible.

"We would ask people in St Helens to dig into their pockets and help Tunza Pride back on to its feet."

Ian Smith, founder of Tunza, said:

"I am quite flabbergasted and humbled that Mark has donated such a large amount to help us through this difficult time.

"I can't thank you enough, Mark - quite incredible support!"

"This proves what an important asset The Tunza Centre has become to the people of this astonishing town."

Fastlane Autocare operates throughout the North West of England, including in Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. It provides recovery and breakdown services for all makes and models, from HGVs to motorbikes.
