Introducing Hadoop books by Packt

Packt is pleased to announce the release of three new Hadoop books this February. In order of release, they are:

Apache Hadoop is a popular open source project that enables the distributed processing of large data sets across clusters of commodity servers. The software framework was named after Doug Cutting’s son’s toy elephant, and was originally developed to support distribution for the Nutch search engine project. Published in January, Hadoop MapReduce Cookbook is a one-stop guide to processing large and complex data sets using the Hadoop ecosystem. The book has more than 50 ready-to-use recipes with step-by-step instructions and real world examples, guiding the reader through solving simple examples to begin with, then on to in-depth, big data use cases.

The book covers many interesting and important topics, such as setting up Hadoop security, using MapReduce to solve analytics, classifications, on-line marketing, recommendations, and searching use cases.

The next installments in the Packt Hadoop book series, Hadoop Real-World Solutions Cookbook and Hadoop Beginner’s Guide, are February publications.

Hadoop Real-World Solutions Cookbook is aimed at developers who want a better understanding of Hadoop application development and associated tools. The book will teach readers how to build solutions using tools such as Apache Hive, MapReduce, Mahout, Giraph, HDFS, Accumulo, Redis, and Ganglia.

Hadoop Beginner’s Guide walks the reader through Hadoop and its related technologies,with a focus on building working systems and using cloud services. The book is packed with clear, step-by-step instructions and takes readers from basic concepts and initial setup through to developing applications and keeping the system running as the amount of data grows.

These books are ideal for data enthusiasts who are looking forward to discovering Hadoop, as well as being useful resources for problem solving. The books are now available for purchase in print and select popular eBook formats from the Packt website.
