MOBILE APP RELEASED FOR THE COMPLETE CIVIL WAR ROAD TRIP GUIDE: Companion app to supplement popular Civil War travel guide
With up-to-date information on each of the more than 400 sites documented in the book, the app, designed by Revolve Solutions LLC, can be used to plan an entire vacation or to quickly find a site near the user’s location.
Said Weeks, “When I wrote The Complete Civil War Road Trip Guide, my goal was to make it as easy as possible for travelers to visit any of the hundreds of Civil War historic sites scattered across America. This app, with its GPS capabilities and at-your-fingertips summary information, is the logical next step to that goal. It’s very exciting.”
Highlights of the app include:
* Summary details of historical information
* Travel information, including addresses, phone numbers, and websites
* Integrated GPS mapping, allowing for driving directions and hands-free navigation to each site
* “Favorites” capability, allowing the user to quickly build a road trip or a reference within the app
The app was the result of a collaborative partnership between Weeks, Revolve Solutions, and The Countryman Press, publisher of the book. Christopher Reese, President of Revolve Solutions, remarked that the project “reflects our ability to merge the best of the print and digital worlds, specifically Michael’s substantial body of knowledge with the mobile platform’s mapping technology.”
The Complete Civil War Road Trip Guide app is now available at the iTunes store. An Android release is planned for the future.
