EDAS-SIBA International Ballet Workshop announces the return of renowned Ballet Diva Ildikó Pongor as resident master instructor

Salzburg, Austria — February 19, 2013 /-- EDAS-SIBA International Ballet Workshop is proud to announce the return of renowned Ballet Diva Ms. Ildikó Pongor as resident master instructor from July 14 - August 24, 2013, in Salzburg, Austria, one of the most beloved arts capitals of the world.

Ildikó, along with other distinguished master instructors, will provide an intensive and varied program for advanced, pre-professionals & professional dancers, culminating in four gala performances, by the students (ages 14 – 30 years old working in 3 groups), including an international performance in Munich, Germany.

Accolades have followed Ildikó for decades as she performed around the globe, building a reputation in ballet of the highest caliber. Very much in demand as a guest artist, Ildikó was invited twelve times to Japan and toured North America four times. She has been a permanent guest artist of the Staatsoper of Vienna, a leading soloist in Stockholm for many years, and has danced in every major city of Europe.

As a leading Ballet Master of the Hungarian National Ballet Company [HNBC] since 1972, Ildikó is an ambassador for her native Hungary and is considered “a classic ballet jewel in the Hungarian crown.” Her highly regarded career includes almost every major role in the HNBC repertoire, as well as outstanding interpretations in ballets by Béjart, Balanchine, Kylian, Van Manen, Bourneville, MacMillan, Pártay, Fodor and Laszlo. Ildikó Pongor has been the recipient of the Ferenc Liszt Award and the Merited Artists Award, Kossuth Award, Honored Artist’s Award, Commander’s Cross Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic and is honored as “an Eternal Member of the Opera House” in recognition of her exceptional citizenship.

EDAS SIBA International Ballet Workshop takes place for 4 weeks during July and August in Salzburg, Austria, birthplace of W.A. Mozart.
The workshop offers an intensive and varied program for advanced, pre-professionals & professional dancers, culminating in four gala performances, by the students (ages 14 – 30 years old working in 3 groups), including an international performance in Munich, Germany. SIBA has the honor of hosting guest teacher Ildiko Pongor of the Hungarian National Ballet. SIBA accepts only 80 students in order to give personal attention to students. Auditions by e-mail only.

The program includes: Classical ballet, Variations, Repertoire, Modern Dance, Musical-jazz, Nacho Duato Choreography, Special Makeup classes, Stage & Lighting, and more. On the 3rd weekend the students will have a full day tour of the Lakes and Alps surrounding Salzburg.

SIBA’s goal is to enable young dancers to experience the life of a professional dancer. From the moment they arrive, each dancer is a part of a “company” of highly trained dancer students from around the world. They live together, train and perform, honing their skills with some of Europe’s leading ballet masters, morning to night -- an experience that is pivotal in deciding whether “you have what it takes.” This transformative workshop not only prepares, motivates and inspires serious young dancers to deepen their artistry and abilities to a world class level, but as one student describes, “[to] grow not only as an artist, but as a person.” Most importantly, the students get stage experience, and a full DVD to be used in further auditioning.

SIBA's faculty, led by Peter Breuer, Artistic Director of the Salzburg Ballet, is an international group of brilliant instructors and ballet teachers from all over the world. The faculty is dedicated to giving students the training and performance experiences to improve their style and expression.
