Winner of the "Live Your Life" Contest by American Eagle Outfitters.
Kean University Student Elizabeth Torres, resident of Roselle Park, NJ, launches her bilingual book "Because the Flame is Alive". A collection of poetry written and translated by herself, as well as the narration of her life as a motivational speaker who has dedicated more than 15 years to make a positive influence in children and young adults all over the world.
Elizabeth Torres is the winner of the American Eagle "Live your life" contest in the U.S and Canada, due to the dedication during her whole life to the art and to words, and to her intense labor as a speaker of childhood and hope. As part of the award, this American company sponsored the publication of her book "Because the flame is alive". The book will be launched in New York and New Jersey, as well as in several book-signing events in universities, educational and cultural centers all over America, Canada, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Europe.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, on December 25th of 1987. At the age of 6 Torres began publishing her poetry in books and audio recordings, making art exhibitions, and also illustrating books and magazines, which have earned her international recognition. At the age of 10 she published her seventh work "Questions without answer" which won the National Poetry Award. Elizabeth has participated as an invited writer in several international book fairs in Guadalajara Mexico, and in Miami, Fl. Her words and poems have been published in several anthologies, and her work has been presented in radio and television in more than 40 countries.
